It was raining in Toronto yesterday, a very miserable day; people were not in the best of moods, me included. So when I was heading to my local Starbucks to get my morning kick in the a$$ I encountered a woman walking in the middle of the parking lot, head down under her raincoat hood and umbrella. It was actually more like fast staggering, swerving from side to side, which is what happens when you aren’t really watching where you are going and just trying to stay dry.

I stayed a good distance behind her for a few seconds going about 10 km/h just inching along and when she started cutting to the left I went to go around her on the right. I was wrong, she darted back to the right and I stopped dead. I wasn’t upset with her, its freaking pouring out! I’m sitting in my dry car and I’m in no rush. She however, is getting soaked, so I was more than prepared to go at her pace, but I wanted to let her know I was behind her in case she decided to make any more sudden movements so I tapped my horn. When she turned around I smiled and waved at her and carried on driving towards the Starbucks at her pace. I parked my car and headed to the door, getting there before the woman so I held it open for her – she says nothing to me, No thank you, nothing. Continue reading

Where are you Christmas?

I am a Christmas junkie! There I said it, and the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Normally I have majority of my gifts purchased by August, the tree up and trimmed the Sunday after Halloween and carol’s playing in my car after the Santa Claus parade. I freaking LOVE Christmas! I’m also a little Martha Stewart about my decorating to the point that my wrapping paper matches my tree.

This year has been a little different. I’m just not feeling the “Christmas spirit” and life just has not been cooperating! I have no gifts purchased, I just put my tree up yesterday and I haven’t even begun to plan when I can make my Christmas cupcakes! I have no desire to brave the malls or even shop online. I’m not looking forward to this Christmas as I have in the past and I need to figure out why and fix this! Continue reading

UFC 139: A View from Venus

Watching UFC with women can be a different experience as my husband can attest, we notice things that men don’t. I’m a girl who LOVES a good fight; the main reason I watch is to see a great match-up where it’s anyone’s chance to have the ref raise their hand after the last round and declare them the winner. I’m happy if it’s all ground game or stand and bang or a little of both. The way these fighters go for and/or get out of subs always has me on the edge of my seat. I’m a fan of the sport, and have the utmost respect for these athletes, but I am a woman and I can’t help but see or look for some additional things when watching. Continue reading
